Shataangayurmantrah – Shataang Ayuh Mantrah

Rsi: Markandeya

Devata: Maha Bhairav/Mahakala

Source: It is the tail portion of the modified Maha-Mrutyunjaya Stotram.

Meaning, Transliteration and Translation:

“Om” is the head (Sheerah) of the mantra.

Hreem Shreem Bhreem

The body of the Mantram has 12 ajnapadaani (Imperatives or Orders to the Shaktis) – addressed to Maha Bhairav also addresses as Vishweswar.

[Note: ‘12’ being a standard number of ajnapadaani in hostile rituals.

***************************************************************************

Pallava (Salutation) portion of the Mantra: Hoom Phatt Svaha.

Hoom: Anger

Phatt: Aggression

Svaha: Attainment.

To me, it appears to be a Mantra rites to Maha Bhairava ordering Him to bring about doom and destruction of enemy. It is a hostile ritual.
